Our mission is to offer loving, developmentally rich environments that support every child’s growth while empowering educators with training, mentorship, and a positive workplace culture.

Role Overview:

The Toddler Teacher supports children ages 18–36 months by providing a safe, predictable, and nurturing learning environment. This role focuses on responsive caregiving, age‑appropriate curriculum, emerging independence, early language development, and building strong relationships with families. Toddler Teachers help children navigate milestones in mobility, communication, and emotional regulation while maintaining licensing and safety standards.

Daily Classroom Responsibilities:

  • Greet children and families each day with warmth and professionalism.
  • Maintain a clean, calm, and engaging classroom environment prepared for toddler learning.
  • Support individualized care routines including diapering, toileting readiness, feeding, and rest.
  • Implement developmentally appropriate activities that promote language, sensory exploration, fine and gross motor development, early problem‑solving, and social‑emotional growth.
  • Facilitate routines that help toddlers feel secure, including transitions, meal times, and nap time.
  • Use simple, clear language to support communication and model vocabulary development.
  • Introduce early learning concepts such as colors, shapes, counting, and self‑help skills through play‑based instruction.
  • Maintain accurate daily logs, developmental notes, and communication with families.
  • Practice positive behavior guidance that aligns with toddler development and emotional needs.
  • Support safe outdoor exploration and supervision using active and engaged supervision strategies.

Health, Safety & Licensing Compliance:

  • Follow all diapering, sanitation, and handwashing procedures in alignment with licensing regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized classroom, including sanitizing toys, high‑touch surfaces, and materials.
  • Monitor children’s well‑being and report any concerns to leadership and families.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, incident reports, and required documentation.
  • Follow all program health, safety, and emergency procedures.
  • Report any suspicion of abuse or neglect per California mandated reporting laws.

Collaboration & Teamwork:

  • Work collaboratively with the Lead Teacher to support curriculum planning and classroom goals.
  • Share observations, ideas, and feedback to enrich classroom quality.
  • Support and mentor assistants or aides assigned to the toddler classroom.
  • Assist with environmental setup, daily cleaning routines, and preparation of materials.
  • Participate in classroom team meetings, staff meetings, and school‑wide events.

Family Communication & Relationships:

  • Communicate clearly, respectfully, and consistently with families about routines, achievements, challenges, and developmental progress.
  • Build trusting relationships with families through professionalism, empathy, and confidentiality.
  • Provide guidance to families related to toddler development, behavior, transitions, and self‑help skills.
  • Participate in conferences or developmental check‑ins as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 12 ECE semester units in core Child Development areas.
  • At least 3 Infant/Toddler‑specific ECE units required.
  • One year of toddler or infant experience preferred.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain after hire).
  • Strong understanding of toddler development, behavior, and learning needs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and maintain a calm classroom environment.

Physical Requirements (ADA-Compliant):

  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs occasionally.
  • Frequent bending, kneeling, floor play, and active movement.
  • Ability to navigate the classroom and playground safely.
  • Reasonable accommodations available upon request.

Benefits for Full-Time Employees (35+ hrs/week):

  • Comprehensive benefits package with 50% employer‑paid medical insurance premiums.
  • Paid professional development and ongoing training.
  • Eligibility for up to $10,000/year in government stipends through ELFA.
  • Childcare discount for employees.
